privacy

Many people in our community aren't out, or are only partly out. Privacy is the default here, not a setting.

what we collect

• Your account: your email address, or your Apple ID if you sign in with Apple (Apple can hide your real email from us).
• Your date of birth, only to check you're 18 or older. It's never shown to anyone, including businesses.
• Your profile: the name you choose, and optionally your interests and a neighborhood.
• What you do in the app: the businesses you follow, the events you save and their reminders, and businesses you block.
• Your phone's notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you about changes to events you saved and updates from businesses you follow.
• Businesses: the details, photos, events and updates they publish (these are public), the contact details they give us, and the proof of business they submit for verification (seen only by our review team).

what we don't collect

• Your precise location. To show what's near you, the app rounds your location to about a kilometer before sending it, uses it for that search only, and never stores or logs it.
• No advertising, no ad tracking, and no selling or renting your information to anyone.
• Reminders are scheduled on your phone; we don't know when you open them.

who can see what

• Who you follow and what you save are private. No other user can see them. Businesses only ever see totals (for example “124 followers” or “36 saves”), never who.
• Your name is only shown to you.
• Our small team can access account data when needed to run the service, verify businesses and handle reports.

services we use

We host Safesqace with Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, in the United States) and Cloudflare (our web addresses; the app's traffic passes through it). Apple delivers notifications. We use an email service to send sign-in codes and business notices. These providers process data only to run Safesqace for us.

deleting your account

You can delete your account in the app (You → Delete account). That permanently deletes your account, follows, saves and devices, and, if you run a business on Safesqace, that business and everything it posted. It isn't a deactivation, and it can't be undone. Backups roll over within 30 days.

age

Safesqace is for adults 18 and over. If someone under 18 tries to sign up, we don't keep their account or email.

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if the change matters.
